After sort of a hiatus due to Covid, movies are back in swing, and nowhere will the results of the post-Covid effect be exhibited more than in action movies, which make up the bulk of the box office. Here are the key action movies you can look forward to seeing in 2022.
The First Breakout Action Film of 2022
And the first big box office hit was The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, whose alter ego is the crime fighter extraordinaire, Batman.
Released on March 4, and having a plot where a sadistic serial killer begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, and Batman is forced to investigate the city’s corruption, including his own family, The Batman has so far, achieved a total box office worldwide of over $700 million.

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released May 2ndof this year and is now the darling of the action universe.
Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) teams up with a teenage girl in his dreams to explore threats in other universes threatening to kill millions.
So far, Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has managed to snag $698 million worldwide at the box office and continues to snag in plenty.
The next big action film
The action film we have all been waiting for the new upcoming movies in 2022 and designed to be a mega-hit that exceeds all other Tom Cruise movies is Top Gun 2, aka Top Gun Maverick.
The original Top Gun released in 1986, made over $180 million ($450 million in today’s prices ) and there seems to be no question that Top Gun 2 will be the latest film to break over $1 billion at the box office, and will certainly be Tom Cruise’s biggest hit.
The plot of the film has Cruise as Pete Maverick Mitchell avoiding promotion that would force him to stop flying, and instead, he is assigned back to the original Top Gun setting as an instructor pilot training a new breed of pilots.
The movie also features the return of Val Kilmer as Iceman, a role Kilmer relished and described as like joining old friends.
Upcoming in June, the Dinosaurs return
June 10the will see the return of another in the Jurassic Park series, this time called Jurrasic World Dominion .
Featuring Chris Pratt, and also featuring Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, Jurrasic World Dominion is an action movie where humans and dinosaurs seek to live together, with terrible consequences.
Next in line for blockbusters?
In July, look forward to Thor, Love and Thunder being released on July 8th.
This action thriller features a slew of mega-stars including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman, Christain Bale, and Russell Crowe.
In this action film, Thor seeks to achieve inner peace, and temporarily has the mantle of Thor is eclipsed by Portman’s character.
- Bullet Train
Mid-July will also bring us Bullet Train featuring Bradd Pitt and Sandra Bullock.
Bullet Train is about a group of assassins who find themselves on a bullet train in Japan, and all of the assassins are unrelated to one another.
- Mission Impossible 7
With filming suspended for the longest time for Top Gun Maverick and Mission Impossible 7 being released in September, this is most definitely going to be a banner year for Tom Cruise.
To be released September 30th, Mission Impossible 7 was originally scheduled to be released in 2020, but then COvid got in the way.
The movie features Cruise as Ethan Hunt, along with his familiar cast, notably Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, showing Cruise doing his incredible stunts as usual.

- Black Adam
October 21st will see the release of Black Adam featuring one of the biggest names in movies right now, which is Duane the Rock Johnson.
In the film, the Rock finally gets to achieve super-hero status, this time as an anti-hero, given powers by the Egyptian Gods.
Rounding up the pack
In November, look for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and in December, look for Chirs Hemsworth to reprise his role in the original 2020 Netflix movie in Extraction 2.
